TNT acquires Heading, Williams goes to Converge

JORDAN Heading and Mikey Williams will be having new homes before the end of PBA Season 49.

On Monday, the league formally approved the one-on-one trade between the two prolific Fil-foreign players as Williams heads to Converge and Heading goes to TNT.

It's uncertain yet when Williams and Heading will play for their new teams.

The 33-year-old Williams is still in the US and hasn't played in the league since the finals of the 2023 Governors' Cup between TNT and Barangay Ginebra. He was adjudged finals MVP as the Tropang 5G won the championship in six games.

The Fil-Am shooting guard was the fourth overall pick in the 2020 draft by TNT where he played for two seasons and won two championships, Rookie of the Year honor, two Finals MVP, and a place in the Mythical First Team and Mythical Second Team, respectively.

The 29-year-old Heading for his part, last suited up in the playoffs of the mid-season Commissioner's Cup, but was bothered by a back spam in the deciding Game 3 of the FiberXers' quarterfinals loss against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

Heading has been present in games of Converge in the ongoing Philippine Cup but has not played a single outing for the team due to his hurting back.

In the lone conference he played so far, the Fil-Australian guard averaged 17.7 points and 5.9 assists, while being a strong contender for the Best Player of the Conference award.

Originally, he was the no. 1 overall pick by Terrafirma in the 2020 special draft, but never played for the franchise.

The Dyip eventually traded him to Converge this season for guard Aljun Melecio, big man Keith Zaldivar, and a 2025 first round pick.(RG)
