THE Philippine Basketball Association won't be holding its annual All-Star festivities as scheduled next month in Davao.
Commissioner Willie Marcial made the announcement on Wednesday, saying security concern led to the postponement of the May 2-4 annual classic.
"May mga pangyayari na hindi natin kontrolado," said the league chieftain on the decision not to push through with the event in Davao Del Norte.
"Security concern. At tiningnan namin, mas makakabuti sa karamihan kaya natin pinostpone."
The All-Star game was supposed to feature the revived Rookies-Sophomores-Juniors vs, Veterans format.

The league was in constant communication with Davao Del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib and Davao del Norte Mayor Jose Relampagos before deciding to shelve the All-Stars.
Marcial disclosed the league is considering holding the All-Star in another province in the Visayas, but due to time constraint, it could possibly be held shortly after the May 12 national elections.
"On talks pa kami kasi kaunting oras na lang yung pagitan," said the commissioner on ongoing negotiations with the possible replacement province to host the All-Stars.
He said the league is looking at a two-week time frame to strike a deal with the new host.
"Pero kapag hindi pa (naayos) within two weeks or after Holy Week, baka ma-cancel na yung All-Star natin," added Marcial.

Bacolod City hosted last year's All-Star edition that ended in a 140-standoff between Team Barroca and Team Aguilar following the remarkable five-point play of guard Robert Bolick in the endgame.
Even in the event the All-Star is totally cancelled, Marcial vows the league will still donate a specific amount to the Players' Trust Fund, which has been the regular beneficiary of the yearly festivity.(RG)
